Alexandra Marinova’s main aesthetic pursuits are related to figurative art, but with a contemporary and conceptual approach. She is interested in the human and the changing relationship with nature and technology. Her research connects elements of drawing, sculpture, photography, video, sound and performance using different media.
In the past few years she has been working mostly installations and site-specific projects, pieces that question the representation of the human face, its transformation and expression. She seeks to examine the boundary between personality and character, face and mask, positive and negative; the relationship and craving between them.
Intertwine plastic form, colour and light she considers her installations sketches/drawings of human experience.
